DaSy: The Center for IDEA Early Childhood Data Systems Our Mission: The DaSy Center provides technical assistance (TA) and resources to state agencies to assist with the development or enhancement of data systems for Part C early intervention and Part B preschool special education programs supported through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). We collaborate with other projects to leverage what is known and generate new ideas and products to help state agencies create and expand early childhood cross-agency and longitudinal data systems. These include the Part C and Part B preschool data systems needed to collect, analyze, and report high-quality data required under IDEA. Recent Accomplishments: Knowledge Development: Developed Framework for Early Childhood Data Systems to assist states in developing & enhancing high-quality state data systems and in improving the quality of their IDEA data. Based on the Framework, developing a self-assessment to help states prioritize improvement efforts. Developing resources for each Framework subcomponent to support improvement activities. Created State of the States maps of key features of Part C and Section 619 data systems, based on information collected from states in 2013. TA & Dissemination: Cross-state TA: Developed a responsive cross-state TA: Developed a responsive cross-state TA plan based on state-identified needs. Products to date include: Community of Practice on data visualization, the ABCs of Data Dictionaries, and Data Privacy & Confidentiality website page. Individualized TA: Ongoing liaison work with 50 states and 11 jurisdictions. TA requests: Responded to more than 100 individual TA requests from 40 states &and jurisdictions around SSIP, data linkages, privacy/confidentiality, as well as other topics related to data systems. Ongoing Collaboration: Leadership & Coordination Annual Improving Outcomes, Improving Data Conference, co-sponsored by ECTA Center and IDEA Data Center. Collaborations with ECTA Center and other OSEP-funded TA centers to support states developing State Systemic Improvement Plans (SSIP). Additional collaborations with Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS) and Race to the Top-Early Learning Challenge (RTT-ELC) TA providers around developing Early Childhood Integrated Data Systems (ECIDS).
